NJU releases new textbook and usher in new era of life sciences education

Recently, Nucleic Acid Biology, a textbook chiefly edited by Prof. Zhang Chenyu, Dean of School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University, has been officially published. Simultaneously, the compilation of AI Biology has also attracted significant attention. With the release of these two textbooks in strategic emerging field, NJU makes a major breakthrough in the development of teaching materials in frontier interdisciplinary fields of life sciences.

Nucleic Acid Biology is one of the first textbooks to systematically elucidate the structure, functions, and application of nucleic acids. Breaking away from traditional frameworks, the textbook offers an evolutionary perspective to innovatively analyze the profound impacts of nucleic acids across cells, species, generations, and even ecological environments, thereby filling a gap in domestic and international educational materials in relevant fields.

At the launch ceremony, Prof. Zhang Chenyu detailed the background and original intention behind the ongoing compilation of AI Biology, pointing out that it is a critical response to the urgent demands of the discipline development and talent cultivation.

The textbook's writing team consists of multidisciplinary experts from NJU and other institutions. As noted by attending experts, the publication and compilation of these two textbooks represent a critical milestone in accelerating China's talent cultivation in strategic emerging fields, which will solidify the intellectual foundation for industries such as biomedicine and synthetic biology while contributing Chinese wisdom to global exploration in frontier life sciences.
