On May 30, Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI) Visiting Scholars Program Information Session for NJU candidates was held at Yangzhou Building, Xianlin Campus. Attendees included Lindsay Strogatz, HYI Program and Communications Manager; Prof. Cao Yi, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office; Associate Prof. Zhao Shuyang, an HYI alumnus; and candidates from School of Liberal Arts, Foreign Language Education Center, School of History and School of Geography and Ocean Science.

At the beginning of the session, Cao Yi warmly welcomed Lindsay Strogatz's visit and sincerely thanked the candidates for their enthusiasm and support for international academic exchanges. He pointed out that Nanjing University actively organizes applications for HYI Visiting Scholar Program every year, selecting and recommending scholars with outstanding academic achievements. So far, more than ten NJU scholars have successfully been selected for the program. Given that program selects only 20 scholars globally each year, making it highly competitive, to better assist our faculty members in understanding the application process and selection criteria, we invited the program manager to conduct a special information session for NJU candidates. In the future, NJU will continue to hold a series of events to help our faculty members with international participation.

Lindsay Strogatz introduced the origins of HYI and provided detailed information about the qualifications, application timeline and selection criteria for the program. She answered questions from the attendees regarding material requirements and concerns about visas. The 2026-2027 program is currently accepting applications as usual.
As an alumnus for the 2023-2024 program, Zhao Shuyang shared his application and visiting experience, encouraging candidates to apply actively. He shared with the attendees that the review process is fair and just and he was well-supported and assisted by HYI during his visit there.
This information session provided a high-quality platform for communication and acquisition of international visiting information for NJU faculty members. In the future, the International Affairs Office will continue to launch a series of activities to enhance international participation through experience sharing, seminars, and achievement displays, further stimulating the potential for international cooperation and exchange among teachers and students.
